Objective: To investigate the clinical effects of pregabalin combined with ibuprofen codeine sustained tablet for treating elderly post-herpetic neuralgia. Methods: 110 cases of elderly post-herpetic neuralgia patients were randomly divided into observation group and control group with 55 patient in each group. All the patients were treated with conventional treatments; In addition, the patients in control group were given ibuprofen codeine sustained tablet, the patients in observation group were given pregabalin combined with ibuprofen codeine sustained tablet. VAS was used to evaluate the pain degree of patients 1 week, 2 weeks and 4 weeks after treatment; as well as the pain improvement of patients were observed 4 weeks after treatment. Results: Compared with that before treatment, the VAS score of patients in 2 groups 1 week, 2 weeks and 4 weeks after treatment decreased obviously (P<0.05); Moreover, the VAS score of patients in observation group at each time point were obviously lower than control group (P<0.05). The pain relief efficiency of observation group was 87.27% (48/55), which was obviously higher than control group (P<0.05). Conclusions: Pregabalin combined with ibuprofen codeine sustained tablet can effectively relief the pain degree of elderly post-herpetic neuralgia patients, so it can widely used in clinic.
