Objective: To evaluate the effects of modified laparoscopic total extraperitoneal hernia repair in treatment of inguinal hernia. Methods: 122 cases of inguinal hernia patients were all treated with modified laparoscopic total extraperitoneal hernia repair. The operation time, postoperative pain, active time post-operation, hospital stays, complications and relapse of all the patients were observed and recorded. Results: The average operation time, average VAS score , active time post-operation and hospital stays was respectively (52.6±7.7)min, (3.4±0.9), (13.9±3.8)h and (5.2±1.6)d. Among 122 patients, 5 patients suffered hydrocele of testes, 2 patients chronic pain, 5 patients hematoncus, 5 patients incision infection; the incidence of complications was 13.9%. The recurrence rate was 5.7% (7/122) during follow-up. Conclusions: Treating inguinal hernia with modified laparoscopic total extraperitoneal hernia repair has the advantages of light postoperative pain, quick recovery, fewer complications and low recurrence rate, so it has high reference value in clinical.
