Objective: To investigate the efficacy of terbutaline, glucocorticoids combined with glutathione in the treatment of acute exacerbation of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (AECOPD). Methods: 92 patients with AECOPD were randomly divided into control group and study group, with 46 cases in each group. The patients in control group were treated with terbutaline and glucocorticoids; the patients in study group were given terbutaline, glucocorticoids combined with glutathione. The clinical efficacy, lung function indexes, blood gas analysis indexes, oxidative stress indexes, and levels of inflammatory factors of patients in 2 groups were compared. Results: The total effective rate of treatment in study group was obviously higher than that in control group (P<0.05). After treatment, the levels of forced expiratory volume in 1 second (FEV1), FEV1/forced vital capacity (FVC)(FEV1/FVC), partial pressure of blood oxygen (PaO2), arterial oxygen saturation (SaO2), superoxide dismutase (SOD)of patients in the 2 groups were all obviously increased compared with those before treatment (P<0.05); And after treatment, the above indices of patients in study group were obviously higher than control group (P<0.05). After treatment, the levels of partial pressure of blood carbon dioxide (PaCO2), 8-iso-prostaglandin-F2α (8-iso-PGF2α), malondialdehyde (MDA), interleukin-6 (IL-6), tumor necrosis factor-α (TNF-α), C-reactive protein (CRP) and procalcitonin (PCT) of patients in the 2 groups were all significantly decreased compared with those before treatment (P<0.05); And after treatment, the above indices of patients in study group were significantly lower than control group (P<0.05). Conclusions: Treating AECOPD with terbutaline, glucocorticoids combined with glutathione can significantly improve the clinical efficacy, improve the lung function indexes and blood gas analysis indexes, reduce oxidative stress and inflammation, so it has clinical application value.
